Writing about web page http://www.maxhammondphotos.org.uk/gallery/
I have a lot of images online, and currently the albums feature of blogbuilder isn’t sufficient for the way I want to display them.
If you’d like to see my photos, they’re all on http://www.maxhammondphotos.org.uk

COMMENT:
It’s unlikely, I think, that we’ll be supporting images and galleries as well as some dedicated packages do any time soon (and in fact we’ve more-or-less frozen gallery functionality for a while now). But out of interest, what’s the minimum additional functionality that would make galleries usable for you?

I’d need to see:
*sub galleries
*control over visual effect – so I can have a dark background, basically
*control over the order that images are displayed in the gallery
And perhaps most tricky within the Warwick context:
*the ability to grant access selectively to people who aren’t at warwick – i.e. create my own user accounts
That’s the minimum. Gallery does lots of other things that I use all the time, including
*having a “gallery remote” app, which can bulk upload, letting you set all the image parameters on the way
*selective thumbnailing – if I don’t want the whole image as the thumbnail, I can select what I want.
*Access statistics
which is all probably functionality that I’d miss. And there’s a load more that I use, but wouldn’t be enough to stop me moving away.
I think the galleries are almost usable for the majority of people now, but obviously, I am considerably more particular about the way that my work is displayed than most people :-)

I’d generally agree with your list of nice-to-haves, especially the picture ordering and at least some layout/style choices. Fingers crossed we’ll be able to work on it more some time soon.
