Oh. My. God. On other posts I’ve been critical of the language skills of some of our overseas students. I don’t know if Sophie is overseas or not, but this looks like chav-txt. Sure, you can put anything you want on your blog, but for pity’s sake. That’s just not english.

I found myself reading this during the week, quite by accident, really. I can’t remember reading it before, although it’s possible that it had skipped my mind.

There’s something about victorian english that’s hypnotic. I found that it took a while before I could read it smoothly, but once I got going, it was excellent. It’s interesting to read a plot-driven novel from 1886, and to realise how groundbreaking it was at the time.

I’m not really reviewing this to say how good it is, more to remind myself to occasionally read things that don’t have titles like “Post-Metallocenes: Catalytic Performance of New Bis(salicylaldiminato) Zirconium Complexes for Ethylene Polymerization”.

The editon which I read was not the one linked to here, but an obscure version that I can’t find in amazon anywhere. I’m tempted to go out and buy this edition for the annotation and analysis.
