My father’s wedding. Under a huppa. With me holding one corner. Wearing a kippah.

I sense a great disturbance in the force.

It was a fun evening, at Kenwood House on Hampstead heath. I’d never been to a jewish wedding before, and it was good fun – definitely more atmosphere than a church wedding.

This seems like another lifetime now. I hardly recognise the person I was back then, it was rather unsettling to look through the photos again – it brought back some memories and feelings which I’d mostly forgotten about.

Writing about: BBC NEWS | Education | Chancellor gives books to pupils

Children starting primary and secondary schools in England are to receive free books to help raise reading levels.

What a curious choice. This was one of the things which Levitt specifically addressed in Freakonomics, demonstrating that it made no difference to the levels of literacy.
