Goo Goo Dolls

And I’d give up forever to touch you
Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You’re the closest to heaven that I’ll ever be
And I don’t want to go home right now

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
Cause sooner or later it’s over
I just don’t want to miss you tonight

And I don’t want the world to see me
Cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

And you can’t fight the tears that ain’t coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything seems like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you’re alive

Break the Habit

Saturday, May 13th, 2006

It’s been a while since I responded to a “blog meme” thing, but this one is good fun, so here we go:

Go to your music player, set it to shuffle/random, and answer the
following questions with the title of the FIRST song that you skip
to each time. No cheating!

If you reached the top of Mount Everest, you would scream:
Wie stark ist dein Zauber?

The next time you stand up in front of a group of people, you’ll say:
Wait until tomorrow

Your favorite thing to say when drunk is:
Call the police

Your message to the world:
Blaze of Glory

Your deepest secret:
The Grasshopper

Your innermost desire:
Without You

Your oldest memory makes you think:
Everybody’s Fool

Somewhere in your wedding vows, you’ll include:
Can you feel the love tonight?

On your deathbed, you’ll whisper:
Arethusa

Your friends say behind your back:
Adios

You say behind your friends’ back:
Prose Combat

Your opinion of MySpace:
I can’t stop raving

When you wake up in the morning, you mutter:
Irrlicht

If you found yourself lost on a desert island, you’d yell:
God is a DJ

Right now, your feelings are:
Thank you for the music

What’s your excuse for reposting this bulletin?:
Poison

Your life’s soundtrack:
Nightmare

My reedmaking progresses. This is the first one (No 5) that’s actually properly playable. I was experimenting a little; this is a short and tapered scrape, with a fairly large tip and a well-defined spine and heart.

So I’ve taken the plunge and begun learning to make reeds for oboe. I ordered a beginner’s kit from Howarth (upgraded the knife to a dual blade swiss army thing made by Wenger) and spent most of yesterday binding and scraping. My binding’s not bad; nothing leaks. And I worked out how to scrape, but developing the skill to be able to make reeds reliably is something that will take some time. I read somewhere that after about 1000 of them I might know what I’m doing. 2 down, 998 to go…

Now, I’m not normally a fan of strings, but:
