Wednesday, November 25th, 2009I’m feeling creative at the moment. Nothing particularly clever about this, but I like the tones, and I’m making time for photography for the first time in ages.

Those crazy germans
I spent a few days in Hamburg – much nicer that one expects from a large port city.
Can you guess where we went today?
Lunch on Sunday – Flammkuchen at the Christmas market in St Wendel.
Lunch on Monday – A sandwich in the canteen at work.
:-(
I shot a whole film of Velvia of this blue stuff, some time in 2005. Didn’t get the film developed until now – just seems like a lot of effort when I’m used to instant results from shooting digital.
I do miss the wide-angle though – and the colours that I get from Velvia with no effort. It’s easy with digital images to forget that there’s an artistic process involved too…
This is a Roland statue, in RÄ«ga. Before arranging this trip, I hadn’t realized that both Tallinn and RÄ«ga were Hansestädte – and the influence is clear throughout both of them.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large pile of prints…
There’s a relatively limited amount of junkfood chains in Tallinn and RÄ«ga – the token McDonalds, and the local (and unappealing) equivalent called Hessburger.
Part of the reason for this is the availability of tasty local junkfood, such as the Estonian pancakes served up in Kompressor. This is a studenty place in the old town, where £2 will get you a plate full of stuffed pancake.
